Children at Holy Trinity Hampton

Sunday School

Sunday School is held every Sunday during the 10 am service except during school holidays. Pre-school and Primary School aged kids enjoy the structured, hands-on learning environment provided by our wonderful team of Sunday School teachers.

The Sunday School children return around Communion time and sometimes show their creations to the congregation.

Acolytes, Bell Ringers and Readers

Children are rostered on each week during the school term to be acolytes and bell ringers at the 10 am Sunday service. This participation in the service gives the children both a sense of responsibility and of belonging within the church. During special Family Church Services, children also have the opportunity to read the bible and prayers to the congregation.

Family Church Services

Special Family Services are held three or four times a year at 10 am with the Band and no communion. At these services, the children stay in church for the whole service rather than going to Sunday School. Our Vicar or one of the Sunday School teachers gives a Children's Address and the children are encouraged to participate in the service even more fully than usual. Children often help with the readings and prayers in these services.

Christmas Eve Crib Service

Our Christmas Eve Crib Service is famous and popular in the area, attracting crowds that may leave standing room only for late comers. Children dress up as Mary, Joseph, angels, sheep, shepherds and kings to take part in this wonderful 40 to 45 minute service.

First Communion Classes

Children aged 10 and above are invited to attend 6 weeks of classes, after which they enjoy a special First Communion Service and are able to participate in this important aspect of church life.
